Nissan Leaf roadside rescue.
The Leaf's shorter range and its CHAdeMO fast-charge standard, different from every newer EV on the road, mean drivers sometimes end up stranded farther from a compatible fast charger than they expect. Our Level 2 top-up doesn't care which fast-charge standard the car uses. We connect through the standard J1772 adapter, add real range, and get the Leaf to whichever charger actually fits it, or straight home if that's closer.
How we connect to a Nissan Leaf
Our J1772 adapter connects to the Leaf's charge port the same way it does at any public Level 2 station.
The charge port is at the front of the car behind the Nissan badge, holding both the J1772 AC inlet and the CHAdeMO DC inlet in one location.
Why a Nissan Leaf strands
The Leaf uses CHAdeMO for DC fast charging, not the CCS standard most newer EVs share, and its battery has no active thermal management, which matters a lot once inland heat soaks into the pack.
Nissan Leaf range and San Diego reality
EPA range runs from about 149 miles on the base 40 kWh Leaf to 212 miles on the Leaf Plus, and heat-soaked afternoons can push the battery to slow itself down on fast chargers, making our Level 2 top-up the more reliable option.
Nissan Leaf rescue questions
Does the Leaf's CHAdeMO connector matter for a roadside charge?
No, CHAdeMO is only for DC fast charging at stations. We add power through the standard J1772 AC port, which every Leaf has.
Does heat affect my Leaf's battery?
Yes, the Leaf has no active battery cooling, so hot afternoons can slow its charging and shorten range more than in most other EVs.
How far can a Leaf go on a roadside top-up?
Typically 10 to 20 miles in 15 to 30 minutes, enough to reach home or a CHAdeMO-capable fast charger. Call (858) 400-4465 if you're not sure which charger is closest.
