Ford F-150 Lightning roadside rescue.

The F-150 Lightning strands contractors and homeowners for the same reason: someone asked the truck to do more work than the battery had left. Whether it's Pro Power Onboard running tools all day or a heavy tow eating range faster than expected, the fix is the same. We connect through the J1772 adapter and add enough charge to get the truck to the nearest fast charger or back to a home outlet. We handle work trucks with a full bed just as easily as an empty one.

How we connect to a F-150 Ltng

Our NACS-to-J1772 adapter connects directly to the Lightning's charge port for a standard Level 2 top-up at the roadside.

The charge port is on the driver's side front fender, same general location as the Mach-E, and it's an electronic release that needs the 12V system working to open.

Known quirk

Why a F-150 Ltng strands

The Lightning's Pro Power Onboard feature can run job-site tools or even back up a house, which is great until an owner runs it down to zero without realizing the truck can't power itself back up from empty.

F-150 Ltng range and San Diego reality

EPA range runs about 240 to 320 miles depending on battery size, and towing or hauling a loaded bed can cut that number by a third or more.

F-150 Ltng rescue questions

Can Pro Power Onboard drain my Lightning's battery?

Yes. Running tools or backing up a house off the truck's battery will drain the traction pack just like driving does, and it can leave you stranded at zero.

Will towing affect how far a roadside charge gets me?

Yes, a loaded trailer or heavy bed pulls more power per mile, so we may recommend a slightly longer top-up before you get back on the road.

What connector do you use on an F-150 Lightning?

We adapt our truck's NACS outlet to J1772, the same connector the Lightning already uses at any public Level 2 charger.
