How the price works

Every rescue starts with a flat $149 dispatch fee, the same in Coronado as in Borrego Springs. From there, charge time bills in 15-minute blocks, and each block adds roughly 10 miles of range. Most drivers need one or two blocks to reach the nearest fast charger or get home.

What moves your total is geography. Along the coast and through the central neighborhoods, a Supercharger is usually minutes away, so a short top-up ends the call near the base fee. Out in the inland valleys, East County hills, and the backcountry, the nearest fast charger sits farther off, so an extra charge block is common and totals run a little higher.

Price bands by region

Central

$149 to $225

Arrival 25 to 45 minutes

Central San Diego has Superchargers close in almost every direction. Most calls need only a short top-up, so totals land near the low end. The flat dispatch fee is the bulk of a typical bill here.

Coastal

$149 to $225

Arrival 25 to 45 minutes

Coastal towns sit close to major charging along the I-5 corridor. Short bridge charges keep most totals near the base fee. You pay the same flat dispatch here as anywhere in the county.

North Coastal

$149 to $225

Arrival 25 to 50 minutes

North coastal cities have solid charging near the freeway and town centers. A quick top-up usually covers the gap, so bills stay low. No mileage upcharge applies for reaching these cities.

North County Inland

$149 to $245

Arrival 30 to 60 minutes

Inland North County spreads out, so the nearest fast charger can sit a few towns over. Some calls need an extra charge block to bridge that distance, nudging totals up. The dispatch fee stays flat no matter how far inland you are.

East County

$175 to $260

Arrival 75 to 90 minutes

East County chargers thin out as you head up the hills and along I-8. The nearest Supercharger sits farther away, so drivers often need more charge blocks to bridge the gap. That pushes typical totals toward the higher end, though dispatch stays flat.

South County

$149 to $235

Arrival 30 to 60 minutes

South County has good charging near the freeways but thinner coverage close to the border. Most calls need only a short top-up, keeping totals near the low end. You pay the flat dispatch fee here like everywhere else.

Backcountry

$185 to $275

Arrival 75 to 90 minutes

The backcountry has the sparsest charging in the county, often an hour of driving to the nearest fast charger. You need more charge blocks to make it there safely, so totals land at the top of the range. There is still no mileage upcharge, the dispatch fee is flat.

Common questions about cost

How much does mobile EV charging cost in San Diego?

Dispatch starts from $149 flat across the whole county, then charge time bills in 15-minute blocks. A typical rescue lands between $149 and $245 depending on how far the nearest fast charger sits from where you stranded. Coastal and central calls run near the low end, backcountry runs higher.

Do you charge more to reach outlying cities?

No. The dispatch fee is flat countywide, whether you are in downtown San Diego or out past Julian. What changes the total is how much charge you need to reach the nearest fast charger, not the miles we drive to you.

What am I actually paying for?

The dispatch fee covers the truck, the operator, and the on-site diagnosis. Charge time is billed in 15-minute blocks, and each block adds roughly 10 miles of range. Most drivers need one or two blocks to reach a Supercharger or get home.

Is a top-up cheaper than a tow?

Almost always. A flatbed EV tow across the county can run well past $300, and it leaves you at a charger you still have to wait at. A roadside top-up puts miles back in the pack where you sit, so you drive off instead of riding on a truck bed.
