Chevrolet Bolt EV & EUV roadside rescue.
A stranded Bolt almost always means a dead 12V battery, not an empty main pack. It's such a well-known quirk of the platform that our first move on every Bolt call is checking the 12V before anything else. We jump it, confirm the car starts, and add a Level 2 top-up through the J1772 adapter if the main battery genuinely needs it too.
How we connect to a Chevy Bolt
We plug our truck's NACS-to-J1772 adapter straight into the Bolt's charge port for a Level 2 top-up.
The charge port is on the driver's side rear fender, released by a button inside the car, which won't work at all if the 12V is fully dead.
Why a Chevy Bolt strands
The Bolt is well known for a 12V battery that drains quietly, especially if the car sits for a few days, and it's one of the most common no-start EV calls we get, a dead 12V with a perfectly fine main pack.
Chevy Bolt range and San Diego reality
EPA range runs about 247 to 259 miles depending on Bolt EV or EUV, and sustained freeway speeds pull that number down faster than city driving.
Chevy Bolt rescue questions
Why does my Bolt keep dying even though the range shows charge left?
That's the Bolt's known 12V battery drain. The small low-voltage battery dies separately from the main pack, and a jump usually fixes it fast.
Do you carry the right connector for a Bolt?
Yes, we use a J1772 adapter on our truck's outlet, which matches the Bolt's standard AC charge port.
Can a roadside charge fix a dead 12V issue?
We jump the 12V system directly rather than relying on the charge port, since a fully dead 12V often won't accept a charge until it's revived first.
