A Polestar that will not roll on I-5, SR-163, or a Mission Valley ramp still needs a real U.S. contact path, not a UK number from search. Charge Pro SD could not confirm a single published Polestar roadside assistance phone number for U.S. owners from the sources we are allowed to cite, so the live path is the Polestar app, the in-car CONNECT button, and Polestar’s current U.S. support page. If the car is in a traffic lane or another dangerous spot, California Highway Patrol says to call 911 first.
Verify Polestar’s current contact path
Start with Polestar’s own channels, not a random result. Search often surfaces Polestar UK, Australia, or New Zealand pages. Those numbers, hours, and finance teams are not the San Diego path. Stay on Polestar’s United States site and the app tied to your Polestar ID.
In the cabin, Polestar’s U.S. assistance materials describe two overhead controls. CONNECT is the breakdown path. SOS is for emergencies such as a crash. If the crash is serious, Polestar says the car can place an automatic emergency call. That is not a substitute for 911 when you are sitting in a live lane on I-805 through National City, on I-15 through Escondido, or on I-8 heading into El Cajon.
The Polestar app is the other official route. Open it, confirm you are signed in, and look for roadside or support from the live menus. Do not trust a screenshot from last year. Menus move. If the app will not load, use Polestar’s current U.S. support page from a phone browser and follow the on-screen instructions. We could not verify a U.S. helpline number, a phone-tree option, or published support hours against our claims ledger, so we are not printing one.
Volvo roadside is a separate program. Polestar and Volvo share history, and search will ask how to reach Volvo assistance. Do not dial a Volvo line unless your own contract, insurer, or Polestar documents name that program. The same rule applies to UK leasing numbers and overseas emails that rank well but do not serve a car on Friars Road.
Headlines about Polestar’s U.S. future are not a contact method either. Use the live U.S. support page and the app on the day you are stuck. Then write down whatever number, chat, or callback Polestar shows you, because that is the current path.
If you are already in a dangerous location, stop hunting for a brand number. CHP says to call 911 when a disabled vehicle is in a traffic lane or another unsafe spot. In metropolitan areas, other roadside requests can go through 511 by saying “Roadside Assistance.” CHP’s Freeway Service Patrol runs on designated routes and hours. If the car cannot restart, that patrol may use an approved drop location. It is not a private shop of your choosing, and it is not a mobile EV charge.
For charging basics while you wait in a safe pull-off, the U.S. Department of Energy’s electric vehicle pages explain AC and DC equipment in plain terms. That still does not replace Polestar’s own support path for a breakdown.
Share the model, location, and warning message
Whoever you reach needs the car, not a guess. Say Polestar, then the exact model and model year. A 2025 Polestar 2 is not a Polestar 3. A software screen that says “12 V” is not the same as a traction-pack warning. Read the message out loud. If you can, photograph the cluster and the overhead buttons so you are not paraphrasing later.
Give a location a tow or rescue driver can actually find. “San Diego” is not enough. Use a freeway, a cross street, and a landmark. Examples that help: the I-5 shoulders through Del Mar and Encinitas, the SR-78 corridor through San Marcos and Vista, Kearny Mesa near the 163/805 split, Chula Vista along I-805, or a garage in downtown or Mission Valley. Coastal fog on the I-5 and inland heat in East County change how long you can sit in the car. Say whether you are on a shoulder, in a lot, or blocking a lane.
Add the state of charge if the display still works, whether the car is in Park, and whether the charge port will open. Say if you already pressed CONNECT, used the app, or reached a person. If CONNECT failed, say that too. Polestar’s overseas manuals describe a long press on CONNECT and a data packet with location. Treat that as a reason to try the button, not as proof of how the U.S. desk will answer today.
Tell them who else is already rolling. Insurers, club roadside, and CHP patrols do not all do the same job. A lockout or a tire is not a dead traction pack. A freeway patrol drop is not a charger. Clear overlap now so two trucks are not aiming at the same pin.
If the car will not start at all, read the cluster message out loud and keep the photos of the screen and overhead buttons. You still want Polestar’s live channel first. Charge Pro SD is a referral service. We match you with independent local operators. We do not run the car, own a fleet, or speak for Polestar.
Separate low charge from low-voltage trouble
A Polestar that will not ready is not always out of miles. Low traction charge and a weak 12-volt system can look alike from the sidewalk. Mixing them up sends the wrong help.
Low traction charge usually shows a low state of charge, a reduced-power warning, or a car that was hunting for a public stall and did not make it. North County coastal hops on I-5 are one pattern. Inland grades toward Ramona, Alpine, or the I-15 climb through Escondido are another. If the car still shows a usable pack and the screens are alive, the job may be a charge, a tow to a working stall, or both. Connector type alone does not prove a stall can feed your car. The U.S. DOE Alternative Fuels Data Center notes that charging time depends on state of charge, battery size, the vehicle’s onboard limit, equipment output, and the electrical service. J1772 and NACS are shown for AC Level 2. A CCS inlet uses the J1772 portion for AC and adds lower pins for DC. Compatibility still has to match the exact vehicle and the unit in front of you.
A 12-volt problem is different. Screens die. Locks act odd. Ready never comes even with miles showing. The 2025 Polestar 2 U.S. manual maps 12-volt charging points under a protective panel at the front left of the hood, held by five plugs. The positive point is the one closest to vehicle center. The negative is a chassis-ground bolt. The assisting battery must be 12 V. Those points are only for jump-starting that Polestar, not another car. After a start, a discharged 12 V still needs more charge. Around 60 F, the manual says the vehicle must charge it at least 30 minutes. That map is for the 2025 Polestar 2. Do not copy it onto another model or year. Do not treat it as a DIY job on a shoulder. Ask a matched operator to confirm the year and follow the current manual.
If you are in a lane, none of that comes first. Call 911. Once you are in a safe place, tell Polestar and any local operator which story you are in: empty pack, dead 12 V, or you cannot tell. California’s Energy Commission ZEV pages are useful for charging policy later. They will not open a Polestar that has lost its low-voltage system tonight.
Check what the current roadside plan covers
Polestar assistance is a manufacturer program. It is not Charge Pro SD, and it is not your auto policy unless those documents say so. Open the Polestar app, your purchase or lease packet, and any email from Polestar about roadside. Look for what is included, what is excluded, and where the car may be taken. We could not confirm a U.S. coverage year, a mileage cap, or a complimentary tow rule from our claims ledger. Marketing pages in other countries quote different terms. Do not assume a four-year or five-year window. Read your own plan.
Ask Polestar three practical questions. Does this event count as a covered breakdown. If the car cannot be fixed on site, where will it be transported. Do they arrange a ride for passengers, or is that on you. If they will only tow to an authorized Polestar location, confirm that site in the official locator. Do not invent a San Diego address from memory. If they will not dispatch, or they will only tow, decide whether you still need a local operator for a charge or a 12-volt recovery.
Insurer roadside is a different contract. Club programs vary by membership. Some list jump starts, lockouts, fuel, and towing. Many still do not list on-site EV pack charging. Complimentary manufacturer help can also be limited to warrantable disablement. Polestar has to say whether your case qualifies. If you already used CONNECT, say so, so a second dispatcher is not guessing.
Coverage does not change CHP rules. A plan that includes towing does not let you sit in a lane on the 94/125 interchange or the I-5/I-8 merge. Get out of danger first. Sort benefits after you are in a safe place.
For manufacturer help versus a local match, use Polestar’s live page as the authority on your plan. Charge Pro SD only matches you with an independent operator if you still need one in the county.
Consider a matched local operator
Call Polestar first when the car is under that program and the app or CONNECT still works. Call a matched local operator when Polestar cannot help, when you are outside what the plan will pay, or when the car needs a job the official desk does not offer, such as a mobile charge to the next working stall.
Charge Pro SD is the match, not the crew. We connect San Diego County drivers with licensed, independent operators. The operator you are matched with confirms the make, model, year, port, adapter, symptoms, location, price, and timing before accepting. We do not set prices, quote arrival windows, or perform the work.
Say you need non-Tesla EV rescue when the car is a Polestar, not a Tesla, and it will not ready, will not take a charge, or is stuck away from a usable stall. Say you need emergency EV roadside assistance when the situation is a disabled EV on a county road and you still have to sort charge, 12-volt recovery, or a tow. Be exact. “Roadside” can mean a tire, a lockout, or a pack at zero. Those are different trucks.
Local detail still matters. An operator who can work a garage in the Gaslamp is not automatically the right fit for a shoulder on SR-67. Coastal I-5 through Oceanside is not the same as a hot lot in El Cajon. Tell them about access gates, HOA towing rules, and whether the car is on a jack, a charger, or in Park with the port stuck.
If Polestar is already sending a tow to an authorized point, do not stack a second recovery unless that desk agrees. If Polestar declined, or you cannot reach them, a local operator can still talk through the next safe step. Keep the warning photos, the model year, and the last range reading. That is the file the independent pro needs.
When to call us
Call when a Polestar in San Diego County will not ready, will not take a charge, or is stuck after official support cannot complete the recovery. Charge Pro SD connects you with a licensed independent operator. We do not send our own truck. Call us at (858) 400-4465 and we’ll connect you with a local EV rescue operator.
